I made a version with a differente distribution: IPTVplayers.xlsx

If you want (u/clausconrad) I can share the editable file

[–]gemini_or 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I really like how you've organized your spreadsheet. It makes it easy to filter by content and platforms. Thank you!

[–]dunkelman13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? That's what I thought.... Glad you found it useful.

[–]aniel300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you, this was also my first approach, but this distribution makes it impossible to add more features to the sheet, which I plan to do - because the apps don't always have feature parity among the platforms. For example, it wouldn't work if the same app supported M3U and XC on Android but only M3U on iOS.

[–]dunkelman13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're right. However you could apply filters to refine the search. Considering the type of content and that almost all apps support M3U, except for four (so far).

Like most Tivimate was my go to for Android Tv but recently been trying and enjoying Sparkle Tv

[–]Playful-Ad9780 5 points6 points  (9 children)

I use TiviMate for watching live, and Sparkle for recording. That’s where I think they’re each best in their class.

[–]goocompass 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Does sparkle not suffer from the same random recording issues once in a while that Tivimate does?

[–]re-spawned 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I also use sparkle for recordings only and I’ve found it’s able to recover from let’s say buffering issues while recording compared to TvMate. Use tvmate as my player cause I love the UI but sparkle for recordings.

[–]goocompass 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Thiiiis is what I believe to be the bane of my limited bad recording experiences with Tivimate. It is rare, but when it occurs it's fatal 😭

[–]Playful-Ad9780 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I agree that it does a great job of recording and recovering from interruptions. I also like that it allows you to watch a recording while recording is still happening - an alternative to catchup. TiviMate doesn’t allow this. If you try to watch a recording that’s not finished, it prompts you to stop recording.

[–]goocompass 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Watching the recording while still recording has sold me. I'm always late sitting down for NFL kickoffs getting food and stuff ready. So I'm forced to scramble record and then stopping and setting the next recording for the live while I watch the recording back until I catch up. Although I've recently gotten a provider with catch up that actually works and let me tell you that shit fucking rooooocks

[–]Playful-Ad9780 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I purposely start watching rugby games late and then use either the provider’s catchup or Sparkle’s recording feature to skip the downtime. Rugby Union has a lot of downtime (setting up scrums, injuries, feigned injuries) and a 10 minute halftime break, so I can start watching 35 minutes after kickoff and catch up to watch the last few minutes live.

[–]goocompass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I've started doing now that I have catch up. Usually just watch the game whenever I want and skip the commercials and half time, turns a 3 hour game into 2. But I think I'm gonna go back to watching live, something about it gives the game more feel and kick knowing its all right now 😛

Implayer definitely ( ios , android tv , phone and tablets ) syncing feature is a game changer other than ( recording , time-shaft, online dashboard management codes , downloads and much more!)

[–]goocompass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you just sold me on it finally, will defs have to check it out

[–]JoePringles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded for iMPlayer. Excellent app and dev.

[–]jcumb3rValued Collaborator 9 points10 points  (5 children)

I recently posted this in another sub and thought it would belong here in this thread as well.

TiViMate is good but definitely not the only choice. Here is my quick breakdown of why you’d use each of a few choices. I’ve had premium subscriptions to all of these and they are all similarly priced.

TiViMate:

very good and stable software. However , it lacks local timeshift. This means you can’t pause and rewind a live stream. For this reason , I don’t prefer it. It does many other things very very well.

—— IMPlayer:

Pro’s: has time shift , has a sports section that lets you pick your sport, then it lists all events playing today and the time they start, and once you pick one, it will tell you all Channels you have where a specific event is on (HUGE value for me). Also Has a management feature that lets you add / remove playlists and manage settings on multiple devices remotely (ie if managing devices for parents or friends, they never have to enter playlist m3u info, you do it for them and it just works). Also insanely valuable if helping others with IPTV or just if wanting to set up several of your own devices without typing playlist info into each one.

Cons: it absolutely will not record even thought it says it is supported. Also, it’s just a bit buggier than the other players… it crashes every once in a while… but it takes 5 seconds to reload. Not the end of the world.

For the remote support and live sports filtering, I use this one a lot.

—— SparkleTV:

Pro’s: supports recording very well, supports local pause and rewind, and is very stable and pleasant to use.

Cons: nothing really… it works really well. Compared to IMPlayer it lacks the sports feature and remote support.

My family uses sparkle more than the others because of the combo of recording and time shift, and general ease of use. I use it for recording anything I watch regularly because it’s very stable for recording.

Summary: TiViMate is ok but there are others out there with features that TVM lacks that may push you in another direction.

[–]vovinho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

do you have to pay for it? like how do you set this up for yourself. sorry new to all this IPTV thing

[–]icenoir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t see a sports section anywhere on iOS app

[–]Not-Not-Maybe 6 points7 points  (1 child)

Do any of these IPTV Player apps have allow for different user profiles, similar to Netflix’s “Who’s Watching?” feature? So that a family of Mom, Dad, Kid 1 can each have a separate persona, and the app remembers what VOD shows Mom was watching vs what shows Kid 1 was watching, and what Dad’s favorite channels are?

[–]tag7800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever figure this out? I have it through a reseller (it’s awesome!) but I’m definitely paying for it!

[–]Great_Bad_6045 6 points7 points  (7 children)

OpenTV is the best app for windows

[–]jimcc66 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I second OpenTV I use it on my Linux machines. I downloaded the flat pack and installed. It is absolutely the best. It's fast, light and still actively maintained.

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just curious whether you tried IPTVnator (the beta version 1.0.x, not the old/stable default one)? I also like this because it's very lightweight. I just wish they didn't cut off the channel titles (maybe my screen resolution is the culprit), makes it hard to see which channel you tune to :D

[–]Great_Bad_6045 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I'm not sure which version I've tried but I did try it. Everything was great EXCEPT the space the channel names was in was tiny and meant you could not read the full name. My service has lots of multiples at different quality so I need to read the full channel name.

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a GitHub account, feel free to upvote my request to fix this: https://github.com/4gray/iptvnator/issues/507

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thank you, didn't know that one, added and looking forward to try it

[–]Great_Bad_6045 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's honestly the best one I have tried and it's free. Just click trial on windows store and it doesn't expire. The guy takes donations so please do "buy" it for $2.50 if you like it

[–]great235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Linux too!

If only it were available on android

[–]afckinidiotValued Collaborator[M] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Thanks for the badge!

[–]Habibi-yala007 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I’ve used uhf and istb for ios. Uhf has better interface but i find it buggy atm so currently my go to is istb

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, added iSTB

[–]gemini_or 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use both of iSTB and Hhf on my Mac. I prefer iSTB at the moment since it has better keyboard controls.

[–]inglourious7 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Sfvip is a great choice for windows. It supports m3u, xtream and stalker. The only downside is lack of epg, or at least I couldn’t get it to work.

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Where do you download this? I only found a release on Github which has a virus.

[–]inglourious7 1 point2 points  (1 child)

This is the link to serbianforum where the player originated from (sf stands for serbian forum) it was created by the user Salezli. All the versions are there and are virus free.

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot. The website is down for me right now, but it worked yesterday, so I have added the link to it now. Looking forward to try it, there is a lack of good players on Windows, compared to Android and Apple.

[–]Piscenian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

saw someone recommend https://www.shamel.tv/ if your deploying for other users / clients. This one allows you to remotely update users playlists.

[–]brucedundeeVeteran 5 points6 points  (5 children)

iPlayTV - Snappier IPTV - IPTVX - SWIPTV - TiviMAX

All are Mac OSX - iOS -IPadOS - Apple tv compliant.

All accept m3u and XC

[–]gbish 4 points5 points  (3 children)

I was using iPlayTV for the last few years but have moved to UHF and really enjoying it. Have it on iOS, AppleTV & OSX and everything is synced between them and can also search.

Didn’t enjoy IPTVX for whatever reason when I tried it. Not used the others.

[–]brucedundeeVeteran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I used iPlayTV for years, now I drift between iSTB and the vastly improving recently UHF, now with the sidebar being able to be hidden it’s looking more like a tv app and not an iOS app on a tv. Now just make it transparent, make swipe right bring out the epg, channel switch up and down and left swipe brings up now and next...then you have a modern iplay again :)

[–]gemini_or 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also like UHF (running on my MacBook Pro). I especially like that it get very frequent updates/features.

[–]humbertov2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting frustrated with IPTVX on AppleTV. They stick to Apple OS design elements well, but the boot time takes forever. I hate having to wait for the app to download settings and metadata before I can control the app. This takes anywhere from 10 secs to a minute. It’s useless for me. I don’t use VODs, I don’t ever change settings, and I don’t care when my provider adds 3 new Mongolian shopping channels! I’m just trying to watch sports!

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, added, thanks

[–]BenDurhoverStrong8k 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I’ve been using OPUS for android and UHF for iOS/tvOS. I haven’t had any issues with either

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thank you, added!

[–]BenDurhoverStrong8k 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking the time to create this list!

[–]Exodus_31X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Tivimate for Firestick and Implayer for iOS

[–]TheOracle722 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Smarters Lite for IOS is missing. I don't use IOS but it's highly rated by friends and on the app store.

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I had it listed as "IPTV Smarters Pro", since that's what they call the app on other platforms. I have now added "Smarters Player Lite" (the name from the App Store) in parentheses.

[–]TheOracle722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool. Thanks for the list btw.

[–]KX450F88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Premium versions of Tivimate for android tv and UHF for Apple TV os.

[–]foyofak241Valued Collaborator 1 point2 points  (2 children)

progdvd/progtv is my go to for windows. recording and watching tv

[–]iamoptimusprime312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need a thread on what video player to use like VLC player or others.

[–]dsjarvis1971 1 point2 points  (1 child)

For Apple TV try SeeClap it’s a very clean interface

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you - added :)

[–]ForstalDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use televizo cheap and let's me edit and hide what I do t want

[–]IndistinctlyMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotta be honest, for Windows and iOS, I use smarters. I have pro on Windows and lite in my iPhone. On my Fire TVs, I go with either Smarters or if it’s a large playlist like Strong, I use XCIPTV. I guess that makes me pretty basic, but they seem to work for me, and they are free.

[–]ThunderbirdGear 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Hey! What’s the best player for use with a fire stick?

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a Firestick myself, but Tivimate is often mentioned in this subreddit.

[–]Zenterrestrial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do these apps differ with respect to their quality in any way? I ask because I recently bought a service that came with its own player. It works fine for live TV but series and movies so far all have playability problems, like freezing for a few seconds every so often.

[–]davoda 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Where's chillio at on the list? :P https://chillio.app

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thanks! Added. Looks nice :)

[–]davoda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you :D

[–]dayday905 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TiviMate for my Android devices and UHF for my iPhone and Apple silicone MacBook. I've tried others but I always fall back to these two as my staples.

[–]shamrocktattoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend iSTB for iOS.

[–]1989guyNewbie 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Can you make the link publicly accessible and not required to have a microsoft account?

[–]clausconradValued Collaborator[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It does not require me to log in when I open it in incognito mode?

[–]1989guyNewbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That worked!

[–]Worth-Tomatillo-1348 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone had success with screen mirror or air cast? I’m apple and using uhf but can’t do either. UHF say that it’s due to my provider. What do yall think?
